Thank You, Kemi!
In May 2025, Kemi finally moved to Colorado and it was awesome. We had planned this move for some time to help further grow PopCykol. We had a lot of learning opportunities and were met with challenges too. I’m just so grateful for her being in Colorado. I enjoyed our in-person collab sessions setting up our annual roadmap to attending events to get the PopCykol name out into the world. We collaborated on illustrations, the website, and music with a visit to The Spot Studios.
Kemi helped me build games and our Squirmy Worm page for the Colorado = Security summer picnic last summer and yes, I’ll be back again this summer.
Some challenges we had were finding the right people to join our company. We had some interesting candidates, but they fell short of helping us build momentum and ultimately weren’t a good fit. We also underestimated the red tape of partnering with schools, which literally blew our minds each time we pitched and got crickets, but I have no intention of quitting. That’s not my style. In fact, I can be a persistent pest if need be. After all, EVERYONE needs online safety security and privacy.
Kemi has been an anchor for me with PopCykol. Her time in Colorado has come to a close and she has returned to Georgia. I knew her one-year stint was temporary, but it’s still hard to see her go. She has stepped away from leadership as a Co-Founder and Brand Officer, but she will continue on as a partner bringing the same joyous and mischievous characters to PopCykol. Our penguins, Savvy, Sweetz, and Spicy, and Ninja Whale will continue to tell the story of cybersecurity thanks to Kemi!
So, onward to the next phase of company. Although, I do it alone again, it’s not without support. I hope you’ll send up a prayer of gratitude to Kemi as I do for the amzing work she has done thus far.
Dear Kemi,
I cannot express enough how much you mean to me and how much it means that you came to Colorado to support PopCykol. I value your friendship foremost, but also your skill and talent. I can honestly say that we’re two peas in a pod when we collaborate. When we’re in the ‘flow’ we’re unstoppable.
I know at times it’s been stressful and I’m still learning how to be a great leader. I know my personal stresses, work, and mental health hindered productivity for the company, but I thank you for your patience, perseverance, and encouragement this last year.
You help see and feed the vision that I have for this company. I appreciate your sustained belief in the mission of PopCykol to continue to protect our precious, curious kids online. There’s so much to do to bring education and awareness to the masses, but I also see the value in building community locally as well.
I love you, my family loves you and so does "Sir Ma’am”. We wish you well in your next phase too.
Love, Teressa
